Child/Parent Dedication

Baby dedication services are short and sweet, normally delivered at the beginning or the end of a worship service.

Interested in having your child(ren) dedicated?

Children are a gift from God.  A child dedication service is an opportunity for the pastor(s), family, and church to celebrate the innocence of life and the great potential for a promising future.

At Lancaster Church of God of Prophecy we do baby dedications as a church tradition and not necessarily as an activity mandated in the Bible. The scripture doesn’t explicitly command parents to dedicate their children, but rather makes it clear that it’s the responsibility of the parents, as stewards of God, to shepherd their children: to know, love, honor and obey the Lord. (Deuteronomy 6:4-7 & Ephesians 6:1-4)

We have baby dedications to allow parents the opportunity to publicly join in a covenant with God, their children and our church family. Baby dedications are essentially committing yourself as parents to follow Jesus, to model the Christian life and shepherd their children to know and love Jesus. Baby dedication is simply an outward act of the parents’ inward commitment.
